EDUC 3310 - Teaching and Diagnosis of Reading(3 CR, 3T + 0L)
This course will focus on the science of reading instruction for diverse learners. A theoretical base will be established by examining reading as a complex, interactive, and constructive process that involves the understanding of language development, cognition and learning. Linguistic and cultural factors in literacy learning are explored. A variety of teaching strategies are studied, including both word identification and skill instruction (e.g., phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension).
