BIOL 3120 - Mycology

This course covers the anatomy, physiology, ecology and evolution of Fungi and other heterotrophic eukaryotic organisms. During this semester, we will learn about the unique features of fungi, the evolutionary relationships among the fungi and their relationships to other organisms. We will emphasize anatomy, evolution, morphology, physiology, function and ecology of the kingdom Fungi. We will also talk about several lineages of eukaryotes traditionally studied by mycologists. Course will consist of lectures, reading assignments, a student project, and some hands on -mini laboratory work focusing on fungi.
